Red Bank Theatre Guild Formed
(Red Bank, NJ) – The Two River Theatre Company (TRTC) announced the formation today of a new volunteer organization, Two River Theatre Guild, to support the operation of its professional theatre company in Red Bank. The new group will offer theatre lovers the opportunity to participate in various volunteer categories that include production, marketing, and audience services, as well as special Guild events and trips throughout the year. The organizers held numerous planning sessions over the summer and the first official meeting will be held Thursday, September 18, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the House of Coffee in the Galleria on Bridge Street in Red Bank.

“Most professional regional theatres have active volunteer organizations and cannot expect to succeed without them,” said Ron Steelman, Director of Marketing for TRTC. “And especially now, with recent cuts in arts funding, it’s very important that we try to focus the energy and good will of our patrons who are asking how they can become more involved in supporting ‘their’ theatre.”

A survey of the first three members of the Two River Theatre Guild reveals various reasons volunteers are joining the Two River Theatre Guild. Guild Member 002, Angelo Ragonesi of Red Bank, said, “I volunteer because I want to see this theatre flourish. I love good acting and honest storytelling and so I want everyone to know that we have a Broadway caliber theatre right here in my hometown.”

Guild Member 001, Kathryne Singleton of Fair Haven said, “As TRTC’s first marketing director, I am committed to seeing them through the next stage of growth and success as they move to their new home in Red Bank. Membership in the TRTC Guild is the perfect way to be a part of TRTC at this exciting time in the company's development.”

Dee Strauss of Freehold, Guild Member 003, said, “I am deeply commitment to improving the state of the arts and I derive great satisfaction out of helping TRTC create exciting professional theatre.

The logo for the new Two River Theatre Guild was a donation from local professional graphic designer David Desantis of Shewsbury. (see attached copy of logo) “Our goal was to suggest the involvement of the community in the support of the theatre and we think our final design hits that mark.”

The TRTC 2003/2004 season will be presented at the Algonquin Arts Theatre in Manasquan and opens on October 2nd with The Tragedy of Carmen, performed in English, using the modern 90-minute adaptation by Peter Brook of Bizet’s stage classic Carmen.

Anyone interested in joining the Two River Theatre Guild should contact Ron Steelman at 732-345-1400 to request an application.
