Red Bank, NJ - Singer/songwriter and Monmouth County resident Jon Bon Jovi took center stage on Monday, July 11 in a performance of music and personal reminiscence at Red Bank’s new Two River Theater. For the 300 fans filling the intimate performance space, Jon Bon Jovi: Off the Record was the evening of a lifetime. Hoping to begin a trend for other notable New Jersey entertainers, the intimate career retrospect show raised over $100K for educational programming at Two River Theater.
The two-hour performance retraced Bon Jovi’s legendary career since the formation of his first professional band in the early 1980’s. To date, more than 100 million Bon Jovi records have been sold worldwide and more than 32 million fans have attended over 2,500 concerts in 47 countries.
Throughout the evening, Bon Jovi recalled career and personal highlights and reminisced over family and band photos with Pierre Robert, a DJ on Philadelphia’s WMMR 93.3 and longtime friend of the band.
Two River Theater founder Robert M. Rechnitz applauded Bon Jovi’s generosity. “We are extremely grateful to Jon and Dorothea for bringing this special evening to Two River Theater. They have demonstrated what’s possible in a community that cares about its children. Thanks to his creativity, time and boundless energy, Jon has enabled us to grow and develop our education programming, and to open the eyes, lift the hearts and stretch the imaginations of Monmouth County’s children to the richness of the world of theater.”
Since its inception over ten years ago, education has been at the heart of Two River Theater Company. The only thing missing was a home of its own. With the construction of a state-of-the-art landmark building on the west side of Red Bank, NJ, the vision of a dynamic community arts center has become a reality.
