Wide Community Support for Two River Theatre

(Red Bank)  Two River Theatre Company (TRTC), poised to open its new Red Bank Theatre in May, 2005, has received some much needed financial support from across the spectrum of private and public sectors. Recent gifts have come from local philanthropist, Mrs. Judith Stanley Coleman and JCP&L/First Energy Foundation. And recently, the theatre has been named as one of ten Monmouth County organizations proposed as recipients for grants from the State of New Jersey Christmas Tree fund. The donations support the theatre’s Capital Campaign and its ongoing Development fund for artistic and educational programming.

TRTC is especially pleased to announce a commitment from Mrs. Stanley Coleman and her husband Chip, to contribute $100,000 toward the building of the theatre’s new home in Red Bank. With this donation, TRTC is now more than half way toward its $5 million Capital Campaign goal.

“This commitment, from someone who has dedicated so much of her time and energy to bettering life in Monmouth County, affirms our vision that this theatre will be at the heart of community activity in the region”, said Robert Rechnitz, Two River Theatre Company Founder and Executive Producer. “We are truly grateful for Judy and Chip’s gift.”

Jim Markey (L.) area manager of JCP&L, presented a $5,000 check to Two River Theatre Company Executive Producer, Robert Rechnitz, and Artistic Director, Jonathan Fox.

Additional funding for TRTC programming has come from First Energy Foundation, part of Jersey Central Power & Light. On October 14, 2004, Jim Markey area manager of JCP&L, presented a $5,000 check to TRTC Executive Producer, Robert Rechnitz, and Artistic Director, Jonathan Fox. The funds will support TRTC’s “No Seats Empty” program, which provides seats to economically disadvantaged students within Monmouth County. Through this program students attend special matinee performances and participate in a question and answer session with the artists after the show.

And most recently, it was announced that TRTC might be a recipient of a $30,000 grant from the State. The amount that would flow into Monmouth and Ocean counties represents about 3.5 percent of the more than $70.3 million in so-called "Christmas tree" grants up for approval by the Legislature's joint Budget Oversight Committee.

Two River Theatre Company also receives support from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, the Stone Foundation, and New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

Although productions are currently presented at the Algonquin Arts Theatre in Manasquan, in May, 2005, TRTC will offer its professionally produced plays in its new, state-of-the art Two River Theatre complex in Red Bank.
