TWO RIVER THEATER COMPANY AWARDED $15,000 IN FIRST-TIME GRANTS FROM THE SHUBERT FOUNDATION AND BANK OF AMERICA CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

Red Bank, NJ (June 20, 2006) - Two River Theater Company has been awarded two first time grants of $5,000 and $10,000 from The Shubert Foundation and the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, respectively, in support of general operating fees for the 2006-2007 season.

Founded in 1945, The Shubert Foundation is among the nation's most prestigious performing arts funders, dedicated to sustaining and advancing the live performing arts in the United States, with a particular emphasis on theater and a secondary focus on dance. Recipients must have a history of artistic achievement, administrative strength, and fiscal responsibility.  Its awarding marks Two River Theater Company's first such recognition from a foundation that grants nationally, a measure of the organization's growth and success since its founding fourteen years ago.  The funds will be used in support of artistic fees during the 2006-2007 season.

Funding from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation was awarded for the free delivery of theatrical arts education through Two River Theater Company's six distinct programs to more than 2,500 economically disadvantaged students and their educators in Monmouth, Ocean, and Middlesex Counties during the 2006-2007 season.

"We are pleased and honored to have been awarded these grants from two of the most highly respected performing arts advocates in the nation. Their recognition of the value of our artistic and educational work is tremendously meaningful.  We can now expand the impact of what we do," stated Elizabeth Shaff Sobo, TRTC Director of Development.

Two River Theater Company, under the direction of Executive Producer Robert M. Rechnitz and Artistic Director Jonathan Fox, was founded in 1994 as Monmouth County's first professional regional theater in 30 years. As one of New Jersey's leading regional theatres, Two River Theater Company is a member of Theatre Communications Group and the New Jersey Theatre Alliance.
